The Vinalcool Arges joint-stock company was established in 1954, following an order issued by the Pitesti Local Council. Its aim was to develop the agricultural production (vines and fruit trees) of the local farms by producing and processing fruits and grapes and bottling the final products (tuica – wine).
The vine growing area of the company, as well as the wine factories, was located in the former departments of Dragasani, Draganesti and Topoloveni. The grapes which were processed in the factories came from the local people and, later on, from the collective farms. Another production unity was located in Horezu, Ramnicu Valcea, Vedea, Campulung, Curtea de Arges where the company distilled fruits from the collective farms. (read more)
